American Lawyer Names V&E Partner Paul Deemer “Dealmaker of the Year”
April 13, 2010 — V&E partner Paul Deemer (Beijing/Shanghai) has been named a "Dealmaker of the Year" by American Lawyer. Paul, along with V&E partners Xiao Yong (Beijing/Hong Kong), David Blumental (Beijing/Shanghai), James Atkin (Tokyo), François Feuillat and Alex Msimang (both London), helped Chinese state-owned oil giant Sinopec International acquire Canadian company Addax Petroleum Corporation for US$7.2 billion. This transaction gives Sinopec oil field assets in Nigeria, Gabon, and Iraq, and was the largest overseas acquisition by a Chinese company in 2009. A year earlier, V&E advised Sinopec on its acquisition of Tanganyika Oil Company Ltd., another Canadian company, for C$2.1 billion. Read about Paul’s award here.
