Jeff resides full-time in Tokyo and is the Registered Foreign Attorney (Gaikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi) for V&E’s Tokyo office. Jeff counsels and represents companies in all types of Intellectual Property matters, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. The majority of his work involves patent litigation and he has extensive experience representing a broad cross-section of companies in the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Jeff’s technical background is in the field of electrical and computer engineering. Prior to law, Jeff worked for a multidisciplinary research institute developing custom, microelectronic solutions for government and industry clients. As an attorney, Jeff continues to apply his problem solving skills and technical acumen to build case strategies in disputes involving complex technology. Jeff is skilled in quickly assessing patent infringement and validity issues, thoroughly preparing cases for trial, and spotting opportunities for quick resolutions when they arise.

(S.D. Tex.) Represented leading independent manufacturer of downhole drilling motor power sections against competitor in trade secret misappropriation case related to elastomer compounds
(E.D. Tex.) Represented Biotechnology company against claims of patent infringement and false advertisement, as well as various Texas state law claims related to the sale of antimicrobial coatings amid the COVID-19 pandemic
(E.D. Tex.) Represented Japanese display manufacturer in multinational competitor case resulting in a favorable settlement
(C.D. Cal.) Obtained order requiring foreign litigant’s U.S. subsidiary to produce documents for use in Chinese proceedings under 28 U.S.C. §1782
(E.D. Tex.) Represented Japanese display manufacturer in patent infringement litigation brought by a non-practicing entity who acquired part of a patent portfolio originally owned by a major handset manufacturer
