On November 28, 2022, the Council of the European Union (“EU”) approved the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (“CSRD”), following adoption of the CSRD by the EU Parliament on November 10, 2022 — a major move toward establishing a new sustainability reporting system in Europe.

As a result of ongoing discussions, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union announced on December 13, 2022, that a provisional agreement had been reached to implement a European Union (“EU”) Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (“CBAM”) beginning on October 1, 2023.
