Danielle Patterson Named Among Bloomberg Law’s “They’ve Got Next: Five Fresh Faces to Know in Energy”
Vinson & Elkins partner Danielle Patterson has been named to Bloomberg Law’s “They’ve Got Next” series featuring “five young lawyers to know in the world of energy.”
Serving as a deputy practice group leader in the firm’s energy transactions and projects practice group, Patterson focuses exclusively in the energy and infrastructure industries across a broad spectrum of sectors, including upstream and midstream oil and gas and renewable power. In particular, she represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, joint ventures and project development transactions.
In an interview with Bloomberg Law, Kaam Sahely, partner and co-head of Vinson & Elkins’ corporate practice group, described Patterson as “unique” and “versatile,” equally comfortable advising traditional oil and gas clients and those on the renewable energy side. She “has always been sort of a star, frankly,” he added.
Patterson is among those leading the charge to guide clients as they respond to demands for evolution in the energy industry. She regularly works with sophisticated investors, companies and innovators to evaluate sustainable solutions to address climate change and the evolving energy mix.
“Wherever the industry is going, whatever it does, that’s what we do,” Patterson said in an interview with Bloomberg Law.
Among her notable representations, Patterson led a 2019 deal for Goldman Sachs’ Renewable Power Fund to acquire a 142-megawatt portfolio of solar power generation assets from a subsidiary of Macquarie Infrastructure Corp. The transaction involved a high number of third party consents affecting the portfolio which added complexity after the initial deal closed, she explained to Bloomberg Law.
Outside of the office, Patterson supports the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas, which is focused on the economic advancement of Arkansas women and girls through collaboration and philanthropy. Making her way up in oil and gas, Patterson understands firsthand the importance of increasing the presence of women in male-dominated fields. She wants girls to feel empowered to speak up and “show all the boys how it’s done.”
To compile the list, Bloomberg Law asked firms to nominate lawyers under the age of 40 who are leaders in the area of energy law and innovators in the legal industry. Read Patterson’s full profile here.
