Dubai Cares Presents Vinson & Elkins with Award for Pro Bono Contributions
Vinson & Elkins was presented with a plaque of appreciation in recognition of the firm’s pro bono work with Dubai Cares, a UAE-based global philanthropic organization that focuses on providing children and youth in developing countries with access to quality education. Since its inception in 2007, Dubai Cares has supported over 24 million beneficiaries in 60 countries.
The plaque was presented to senior associate Mina Morova and associate Robin Wallich by His Excellency Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO and Vice Chairman of Dubai Cares.
Vinson & Elkins were the first law firm to provide pro bono services to Dubai Cares over a decade ago, and have continued to support on various projects and initiatives for the charity. Recent examples include:
- Advising Dubai Cares as an outcome funder in a USD 14.4m skill impact bond, which aims to skill 50,000 young people in India, 60% of whom will be women. As a first-of-its-kind program, it targets outcomes such as job placement and retention, rather than providing training alone.
- Advising on various contractual arrangements in respect of the RewirEd Summit, Dubai Cares’ flagship platform advocating for transformed education systems as the core enabler for a sustainable future for people and planet.
- Working on various educational programs and research programs entered into by Dubai Cares.
- Advising on various arrangements in connection with the Dubai Cares Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
