Seasoned Trial Lawyer Liane Noble Returns to Vinson & Elkins

Noble has significant litigation experience in both the public and private sectors, including jury trials and high-stakes, complex business disputes.
Vinson & Elkins today announced that Liane Noble has returned to the firm as an Austin-based counsel in the firm’s Litigation Practice.
Noble will represent clients in complex commercial disputes, breach of contract cases, and business torts in state and federal trial and appellate courts. She has experience with energy, antitrust, False Claims Act, contract disputes, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other types of commercial matters.
She most recently served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Texas, where she took numerous cases to trial in federal court, gaining invaluable courtroom experience. During her tenure, she led cases from both sides of the docket — representing the government as a defendant against challenges to federal regulations and enforcing violations of federal law as plaintiff.
“Liane has distinguished herself at every stage of her career, repeatedly proving her mettle by successfully leading trials and appeals,” said Vinson & Elkins Partner Chris Popov, head of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice. “We also know from first-hand experience that she is a wonderful colleague who adds immense value to every litigation team she joins.”
Before entering public service, Noble worked as a litigator at Vinson & Elkins. She began her legal career by clerking for the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Texas.
“I chose to return to Vinson & Elkins because of its deep bench of trial talent and its reputation for handling high-stakes disputes with skill and precision,” Noble said. “The lawyers here are not only top-tier professionals, but also the kind of colleagues who invested in me as a young lawyer, continue to support me as I grow in my career, and make the practice of law both rewarding and fun.”
Noble earned a bachelor’s degree in the Plan II Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin. She also earned a Master of Public Leadership degree from UT Austin’s LBJ School of Public Affairs. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.
