Vinson & Elkins Adds Antitrust Litigator Adam Hudes as Partner in Washington, D.C.
Vinson & Elkins announced today that Adam Hudes has joined the firm as a partner in Washington, D.C., strengthening the firm’s Antitrust Litigation practice.
Hudes is a seasoned litigator and antitrust lawyer who concentrates on complex antitrust and commercial disputes. He focuses on representing defendants in large antitrust litigation and has significant experience representing companies in merger and nonmerger antitrust investigations conducted by the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, and state authorities. Hudes also has experience representing companies in competition litigation concerning unfair trade practices and “gray goods” matters – goods sold through legal but unauthorized trade channels at significantly discounted prices. He joins Vinson & Elkins from Mayer Brown.
“Adam’s first-chair trial ability and substantive knowledge are great additions to our already strong team,” said Hill Welford, Co-Head of Vinson & Elkins’ Antitrust practice. “Antitrust remains a very active area and we expect it to remain so for the foreseeable future, so it makes sense to continue to grow our group. Adam helps us assure clients that we can handle antitrust cases of any size and complexity.”
Hudes joins a growing antitrust practice where Vinson & Elkins has attracted several key lateral hires in the past 10 months. In October 2022, the firm added Stephen Medlock in Washington; Mike Scarborough and Dylan Ballard joined the firm’s San Francisco office in January 2023; and Kara Kuritz joined the Washington office in March 2023.
“Vinson & Elkins has built one of the leading Antitrust practices for large infrastructure and technology clients, and the opportunity for me to join this group as it continues to grow is something I’m looking forward to,” said Hudes.
Hudes received his BA from Duke University and earned his JD from Cornell Law School.
Vinson & Elkins’ nationally recognized Antitrust practice guides clients through their most challenging competition law issues. The team helps domestic and international clients with needs from the boardroom to the courtroom: structuring strategic transactions, obtaining regulatory clearances, facing regulatory inquiries and criminal investigations, and litigating class actions and other civil cases.
