Vinson & Elkins Adds Leading Energy, Infrastructure and Finance Transactions Partner Chris Taufatofua in London
Vinson & Elkins announced today that it has expanded its corporate and finance practices in London with the addition of leading practitioner Chris Taufatofua, who joins the firm from Milbank.
Chris works with lenders, sponsors, governments and contractors across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia and has a leading practice in sophisticated and high value energy and infrastructure matters. His experience in project development, finance and other transactions in the energy transition, LNG, power and renewables and all related infrastructure complements the firm’s already market-leading reputation in this area.
“Energy and infrastructure are at the core of what we do, and we have been the recognised leader in these industries for many decades,” said Vinson & Elkins Chair Keith Fullenweider. “Chris will enhance our capabilities to advise on complex projects, project financings and other transactions, especially given the capital and financing flowing into energy transition, traditional energy and infrastructure projects across the globe. He will be a great asset to the firm and London office.”
“Chris’ experience, together with his strong client relationships, will be a tremendous addition to our existing strength,” added Ben Higson, Head of Vinson & Elkins’ London Corporate practice. “We see Chris’ arrival as the next step in our plans to build out our transactional and wider finance practices.”
“What’s exciting for me in joining Vinson & Elkins is the high calibre of its clients and its world-class reputation for working on complex cross-border transactions in an innovative, collaborative and collegiate manner. The firm’s experience is globally known, and its clients are at the forefront of the energy and infrastructure markets and the energy transition. This global recognition in these areas, which are fundamental to my clients and increasingly convergent, will bring a wealth of opportunities as the next generation of energy transition emerges,” said Taufatofua.
Chris received his law degree and his business degree from Queensland University of Technology.
