Jared’s principal area of practice is energy regulation, with a focus on matters relating to the regulation of electric transmission and distribution utilities. Jared’s practice includes assisting clients with various energy-related licensing, compliance, rate-making, transactional, litigation, and policy matters, as well as negotiating interconnection, service, land-use and other agreements on his clients’ behalf.

The following is a list of representative matters in which Jared has assisted.

Experience Highlights

  • Assisted in representing electric utility client in the largest base-rate case for an electric transmission and distribution utility ever litigated in Texas, resulting in recovery of over $18.5 billion in invested capital

  • Represented clients in negotiating numerous Standard Generation Interconnection Agreements, Discretionary Services Agreements, and easement agreements for new electric facilities

  • Assisted electric utility client in the development, permitting, and/or obtaining regulatory approvals for over a billion dollars in new electric transmission capital investments

  • Represented investors in the sale of a $240 million interest in Texas and Nevada electric utilities

  • Assisted in the representation of electric utility client in compliance audit of NERC Reliability Standards conducted by the Texas Reliability Entity

  • Participated on behalf of electric utility clients in various contested cases, rulemakings, and other projects before the Public Utility Commission of Texas

  • Counsels clients on wide a range of regulatory issues involving the Public Utility Regulatory Act, ERCOT Nodal Protocols, and Federal Power Act, including in licensing, transactional, risk-mitigation, and policy matters
