Ryan is a commercial litigator who represents and advises clients on a broad range of matters in both federal and state court and in private arbitration. He has represented clients in a wide array of commercial disputes, including those involving contractual breaches, royalty issues, construction disputes, corporate governance issues, antitrust matters, and others.
Ryan’s experience spans the entire litigation process and includes pre-suit counseling, drafting pleadings, managing discovery, briefing and arguing motions, defending and taking depositions, and assisting with argument and witness examinations at trial.
Prior to joining Vinson & Elkins, Ryan served as a law clerk to Judge Diana Saldaña in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Experience Highlights
(Colo. Dist. – Denver Cnty.) After a three-week trial to the court, secured a $280 million judgment in favor of Antero Treatment while defeating a $118 million counterclaim; the Court found that the defendant fraudulently induced Antero into signing an agreement for the design, construction and operation of a facility for the treatment of produced and flowback water; the Court also found that Antero properly terminated the agreement after the defendant defaulted by failing to construct the facility according to the requirements of the contract
(Tex. Dist. − Harris Cnty.) — After a three-day hearing, secured the immediate denial of a temporary injunction on behalf of a natural gas equipment supplier in relation to allegations of trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract
(CPR Arbitration) – Obtained take nothing judgment for multinational energy company in contract dispute with the joint owner of a natural gas pipeline
(Ad hoc Arbitration) – Represented major Australian energy company in dispute over the calculation and payment of gas royalty relating to liquified natural gas project in Eastern Australia
